Right to Citizenship.<\/span><\/h2>\n
Citizenship is a person’s relationship with the state. When no state recognizes you as its citizen, then you are a stateless person. Citizenship is linked to many other rights, such as the right to work, to education, to political participation, to travel to other countries, etc. Everyone has a right to a citizenship, no matter where he\/she is. No one can be arbitrarily deprived of his\/her citizenship nor denied the right to change his\/her citizenship. In Greece, some persons may have double citizenship, ie. they may be citizens of two different countries with which they have relations. But this is not the case in all countries.<\/div>\n

Why is it useful in your everyday life?<\/strong>
\nSome persons, although they have lived in the same place for many years, have not acquired the citizenship from the state which they come from. Stateless persons often do not have any document proving who they are, so they often do not have access to public services or medical care and cannot travel. Many persons can be refugees and stateless at the same time.<\/p>\n
